The 2010 Education for All Global Monitoring Report (EFA GMR) argues that failure to reach the marginalised has denied many people globally their right to education. With the effects of the global economic crisis still beingfelt, there is a real danger that much of the progress of the past ten years will stall or be reversed.Education is at risk, and countries must develop more inclusive approaches, linked to wider strategies for protecting vulnerable populations and overcoming inequalities. A summary of the report is attached.
Through a series of presentations and discussions and by looking at practical and policy solutions, the purpose of the this EFA Scotland seminar is :
1. To disseminate the EFA GMR 2010 and its findings in Scotland
2. To engage with Scottish stakeholders in a discussion about the root causes of education marginalisation by looking at programmes and policy solutions which are combating it, both at home and abroad
3. To identify how Scotland-based stakeholders can support progress in the areas covered by the report towards reaching the Education for All goals by 2015.
