Kids’ effort for Haiti at Govanhill nursery, Glasgow
I was among kind hearted pupils at Govanhill nursery school, Glasgow yesterday where they organized a fund-raising week and raised £180 for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.
Keelie-Leigh, Salahuddin and Ayisha proud of their School
Children at the Nursery have been so moved by the news and pictures of the disaster, that they spent a week raising money for the children of Haiti. After speaking to the teachers I found out pupil at the school were so upset when they saw children who had lost their parents and had nowhere to live, no medical supplies and no food or clean water that they all just wanted to help.
One of the teachers at the school, Isobel MacDonald, said: “The children of Govanhill nursery School are very caring and proactive. This is all their work and their efforts – I am so proud of them. The teachers are only too willing to join in and support their cause”.
I don’t know how many thousands of miles Haiti will be from Govanhill nursery, nonetheless the school felt a strong link between themselves and the earthquake-ravaged people of Haiti.
All i will say now is hats off to all the kids at Govanhill nursery and a huge thank you from Islamic Relief to the teachers and parents for their support!!
